Initially I put the chip on with electrician's tape. Once I was sure of the location, I glued it with Weldwood contact cement. This is permanent enough that the chip will never fall off, but it can be removed with solvent. Now the only thing to figure out is how to get the chip out without breaking the glass case. It looks like it is glued/ interference fitted in there. The reference website advises to use acetone to dissolve the glue.
This way you can aviod having to recode the RFID chip located in the plastic housing of the key end. Oher option is to swap this piece of your original FOB into the new one. The circled part is the RFID Chip.
I was able to remove the chip from my key fob but I glued it to the steering column just under the key slot. Now I can have a key made anywhere and it will start my car.
I broke my RFID chip in my key while I was replacing my battery in my key fob. RFID was not secured properly and slid out while I was closing the it all up.
